Investing.com -- Telecom Italia shares fell on Monday after Poste Italiane’s tender offer closed with the group holding 85.82% of the company, short of the 90% needed to delist the stock.

Investing.com -- Telecom Italia posted second-quarter core earnings on Wednesday that matched analyst expectations, with growth in its Brazilian unit and enterprise division alongside a return to growth in its domestic market.

The selected participants for digital euro pilot include banks and non-bank providers.

Italy has picked an unlikely champion to develop its technology infrastructure and protect digital sovereignty: its national postman. Poste Italiane, the postal service which pays out pensions through 12,600 post offices that are as much a feature of remote towns as the local church, is betting on its €13.5 billion ($15.4 billion) bid for ‌Telecom Italia (TIM) to accelerate its shift into digital, telecom and cloud services. Over the past ‌decade it has signed up 30 million users - around 70% of the total - to Italy's digital ID system to access public services online.

Conio said the approval concludes a process designed to make its services available to a “broad and diverse audience”.

Poste Italiane plans to appeal to the Court of Rome seeking annulment of the decision.

Rome is trying to turn an old telecom problem into a strategic asset again.

Italy's Treasury has agreed to sell PagoPA, which handles digital payments to public ​administrations, to the state mint and to state-backed postal ‌group Poste Italiane for up to 500 million euros ($586 million), the mint said ‌on Friday. The deal has raised concerns among Italian banks in recent months, as it could boost competition for smaller lenders already struggling to keep pace with rapid changes in the payments sector. The 500-million-euro valuation ⁠includes variable components and ‌future payments, the mint said, without giving further details.
