Agreements with ADNOC, Mubadala and UAE agencies will apply OpenAI systems to operations, investment analysis and a government initiative.
OpenAI signed agreements in Abu Dhabi on Monday to deploy its technology across energy operations, investment analysis and a government initiative in the United Arab Emirates.
ADNOC and AI firm G42 signed a deal with OpenAI at the ADIPEC conference. ADNOC became the first energy company to deploy OpenAI’s frontier technology, according to the Abu Dhabi Media Office.
ADNOC said OpenAI systems will continuously forecast crude oil supply, demand, prices and margins, and predict their effects before they occur. OpenAI also agreed with Mubadala and G42 unit Inception42 to apply AI to investment analysis, opportunity identification and risk assessment.
Alongside the UAE’s Department of Government Enablement, OpenAI launched an AI-based “Machine-Readable Government” initiative. The Abu Dhabi Media Office said the agreements were among deals signed during the visit.
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman travelled to Abu Dhabi, where he met Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and attended ADIPEC. Altman said energy was one of OpenAI’s challenges and that the company’s advanced models would be used to address ADNOC’s hardest, most valuable problems.
