Volvo plans to combine its safety systems with three Nvidia solutions for hands-free driving on city streets and highways.
Volvo is expanding its partnership with Nvidia to develop autonomous driving systems for future vehicles, using three Nvidia hardware and software solutions. The systems are intended to operate on city streets and highways.
The expanded arrangement combines Volvo’s vehicle safety systems and engineering expertise with Nvidia’s Hyperion sensor and computing architecture, Alpamayo driving software and Halos safety evaluation layer.
Nvidia automotive head Ali Kani said Alpamayo combines AI models, datasets, simulations and development tools with conventional software that uses machine learning and camera and radar sensing. He said the open-source software had been downloaded more than 650 thousand times.
