Key takeaways

  • Defense firms signed $15 billion in new contracts during 2026, Görgün said.
  • Görgün expects the figure to reach $20 billion by year-end.
  • The workshop brought together 209 firms, with about 1,000 business meetings planned.

Turkey’s defense industry signed $15 billion in new contracts during 2026, according to Haluk Görgün, head of the Defense Industries Presidency (SSB). He said the total is expected to reach $20 billion by year-end.

Görgün said major contractors ASELSAN, ROKETSAN, TUSAŞ, HAVELSAN and STM had worked with domestic firms over the past three years. They placed orders worth more than $20 billion with those suppliers, while domestic outstanding orders exceeded $13.4 billion, he said.

The SSB is holding a three-day supply-chain workshop in Bursa with 209 companies attending. About 1,000 business-to-business meetings are planned. Discussions cover supplier capacity, financing pressures, workforce skills, exports and contract processes.

Görgün said defense exports were growing faster than Turkey’s overall exports. He also said the sector’s export value per kilogram was 40 times the national average. The workshop’s findings are expected to be turned into a strategic roadmap, he said.
