Castel Takes Ferox Energy Drink Into Four African Markets

The beverage group is using local production and a high-profile sports ambassador to introduce Ferox across Cameroon, Gabon, Senegal and Côte d’Ivoire.

Castel Group has introduced its Ferox energy drink in four African countries, with its Cameroon subsidiary producing the beverage locally. The rollout covers Cameroon, Gabon, Senegal and Côte d’Ivoire.

The launch began in Cameroon in mid-September, followed by introductions in the other markets. Côte d’Ivoire became the fourth country when Castel presented Ferox in Abidjan on September 18, according to local coverage.

Ferox contains caffeine, taurine, vitamin C and several B vitamins, including B3, B5, B6 and B12, according to the brand’s product information. The drink is positioned as a pan-African brand, rather than a product aimed only at its home market.

Cameroonian mixed martial artist Francis Ngannou is the brand’s ambassador. Castel’s campaign ties Ferox to endurance and determination, using a widely recognized African sports figure to build visibility across several countries.

Local production gives the group a base for distribution beyond Cameroon. Castel reported beverage operations in 22 African countries in its 2025 sustainability report, providing an existing regional footprint for future brand expansion.

The launch targets a category that GlobalData expects to grow in Cameroon. The research firm estimates energy-drink sales there will rise from $52.8 million in 2025 to just over $80 million in 2030, while volume climbs from 8.6 million to 11.5 million litres.

Ferox also enters a market where Castel already sells energy drinks. Its Cameroon subsidiary produces XXL, meaning the new brand adds another option to the group’s existing local beverage portfolio.

Castel has not disclosed Ferox sales targets or detailed market-by-market plans. The next test is whether the brand can convert its coordinated launch and regional distribution reach into repeat purchases.
