Compass Adds Dallas Boutique Paragon as Brokerages Seek Scale

The merger brings 85 Paragon agents into Compass as its North Texas footprint grows through deals with independent firms.

Dallas-based Paragon Realtors merged with Compass this week, adding 85 agents to the larger brokerage. Paragon said the deal would support its long-term sustainable growth.

Thirty-five Paragon agents in Sherman, Texas, will continue operating as the Paragon Group, with Compass as their broker of record. Another 40 to 45 agents will work from Compass’s East Dallas office, according to Compass executive Brian Pacholski.

Paragon founder Mike Miller described the arrangement as a hybrid: the Sherman office will keep its staff and leadership while gaining access to Compass resources, technology and agent network. Paragon reported more than $260 million in real estate volume over the past year.

Compass entered the Dallas-Fort Worth area in 2018 and now has about 600 teams and more than 1,650 agents there, Pacholski said. Its deals for Paragon and Dallas firms Rogers Healy and Associates and Bray Real Estate Group have brought 400 agents into its regional network, he said.

Miller said he began exploring partnership options in February and considered Corcoran before choosing Compass. He pointed to Compass’s tools for agents as a reason for the decision.

Pacholski said smaller brokerages are seeking larger-scale support as the industry and compliance rules change. He said Compass plans to keep recruiting in the region.
