Cramer Says Okta’s Identity Tools Could Help Secure AI Agents

The CNBC host pointed to Okta’s role in identifying rogue AI agents as investors weigh its recent growth against a sharp stock rally.

Jim Cramer praised Okta’s role in tackling AI security risks, saying companies need to identify rogue AI agents before they can control them. The CNBC host added the identity-security company to his list of cybersecurity stocks that may benefit as AI use expands.

Okta’s tools focus on who or what can access company systems. Its Okta for AI Agents product helps businesses find AI agents, manage their permissions and track their activity. The service became generally available on April 30.

The pitch addresses a growing workplace challenge: AI agents can connect to apps and data, then take actions with little direct human oversight. Okta says its platform can set access rules and revoke an agent’s access if it behaves unexpectedly.

The company’s latest results show growth beyond that AI-security story. Okta reported $805 million in revenue for its fiscal second quarter, up 11% from a year earlier. Subscription backlog due within 12 months rose 14% to $2.585 billion.

Okta also reported $227 million in free cash flow, compared with $162 million a year earlier. For the full fiscal year, it forecast revenue of $3.216 billion to $3.226 billion, or growth of 10% to 11%.

The stock’s rise sets a higher bar for continued gains. Cramer said it had climbed 144% over six months as of September 16, a run that outpaced the company’s expected revenue growth.

Investors will look for evidence that AI-agent security can add to sales, not just strengthen Okta’s pitch. The company does not break out revenue from AI-agent products, so its next results may offer clues through overall growth, backlog and product demand.
