Glass Hull Says Robinhood Chain Kept Producing Blocks During Reported Outage

The measurement group says only Ethereum data postings paused, while the chain continued producing blocks on September 4.

Glass Hull, Jet Fyul Dynamics’ measurement practice, says Robinhood Chain continued producing blocks on September 4, despite reports of an outage. It found that the chain produced 854,255 blocks that day, with no gap longer than two seconds.

According to Glass Hull, two pauses in posting data to Ethereum lasted 14 minutes in total, from 12:29 to 12:48 UTC. Both ended before the reported 12:57 UTC outage start. Arbitrum said that day the chain “experienced no downtime.”

Glass Hull said it built a copy of the chain’s record and checked its findings using two methods. It published sealed records anchored in Bitcoin, along with methods for readers to reproduce its results.

The group also reported that 18.4% of user transactions failed from the chain’s launch through September 14, while still paying about 1,551.08 ETH in fees. Daily fees fell from 3,333.81 ETH on September 4 to 195.97 ETH on September 13, it said.

A separate finding concerned AMC token trades. Glass Hull said 295 of 386,668 swaps occurred at 60 times or more above AMC’s prior Nasdaq close, with most of those trades clustered in a 17-minute period on August 30. It said the largest trade, excluding dust-sized transactions, was at 73.4 times the prior close.
