Royal Road Starts Deep Drilling at Colombia’s Güíntar Target

The campaign will chase extensions of a porphyry system that has already delivered broad gold, copper and silver intercepts.

A new round of drilling is targeting the part of Royal Road Minerals’ Güíntar discovery that previous holes have not yet reached, pushing the company’s Colombian exploration story deeper beneath the existing mineralized footprint.

Royal Road said diamond drilling began from Platform 20 at Güíntar, the most advanced target within its Güíntar-Alemán-Margaritas, or GAM, project in Antioquia. Multiple holes are planned to track the interpreted porphyry system down-plunge and down-dip, with the first work focused on extensions of mineralization cut by holes GUI-DD-013 and GUI-DD-028.

Those earlier holes provide the geological case for the campaign. GUI-DD-013 intersected 131 meters grading 1.0 grams per tonne gold equivalent, including 57 meters at 1.4 grams per tonne gold, 10.2 grams per tonne silver and 0.6% copper. GUI-DD-028 returned 176 meters at 1.2 grams per tonne gold equivalent, including 76 meters at 2.1 grams per tonne gold, 7.9 grams per tonne silver and 0.4% copper. The latter interval remained open at depth, giving the new drilling a defined target rather than a purely grass-roots objective.

Royal Road is also refining its interpretation of what sits across the broader GAM district. Selective resampling of pyrrhotite-bearing veins from historical drill core at Güíntar and Niverengo produced gold values ranging from 0.15 to 69.5 grams per tonne, although the company cautioned that the samples were selected for visible pyrrhotite and do not represent overall project grades. The results support its view that a later gold-bearing hydrothermal event may have overprinted an earlier porphyry gold-copper-silver system.

That interpretation matters because pyrrhotite generates a strong magnetic response, potentially helping Royal Road trace concealed mineralized centers beyond the zones already drilled.

Work is advancing elsewhere on the project as well. Underground sampling at Algodona returned 36 meters at 2.14 grams per tonne gold and 6.95 grams per tonne silver, while reprocessed geophysical data at Niverengo outlined an untested target marked by coincident chargeability and magnetic anomalies.

Royal Road’s stated objective is to move Güíntar toward a maiden mineral resource while testing whether GAM is a district-scale system. The company controls about 1,840 square kilometers of mineral titles and applications across Colombia, making each successful target potentially relevant to a much larger exploration portfolio.
