Smith+Nephew Adds Pelvic Fracture System to EVOS Trauma Platform

The new plating system targets pelvic and acetabular fractures and is available in the United States, the company said.

Smith+Nephew has launched the EVOS PELVIC Plating System, extending its EVOS trauma platform to pelvic and acetabular fracture care. The company said the system is designed for a range of fracture patterns and technically demanding procedures.

The system includes pre-contoured plates for the posterior wall, quadrilateral surface and pubic symphysis, as well as locking and non-locking utility plates. Smith+Nephew said the options are intended to give surgeons flexibility when treating complex pelvic ring and acetabular fractures.

A dedicated cannulated screw platform and specialized instruments are designed to support fracture exposure, reduction and implant placement. The company said surgeons can use features built into the plates and instruments to obtain and fine-tune reduction before maintaining fixation during healing.

Smith+Nephew believes the integrated design could make complex pelvic procedures more efficient and reproducible. The system is available in the United States; timing and availability in other markets will vary.
