Visa Estimates Hold Steady as Shares Trail the Market

Zacks forecasts double-digit earnings growth for Visa, while its latest valuation assessment says the shares trade at a premium to peers.

Visa shares returned -5% over the past month, while the Zacks S&P 500 composite gained 0.6%. The Zacks Financial Transaction Services industry, where Visa is grouped, fell 4.9%.

Zacks consensus estimates put quarterly earnings at $3.43 per share, up 15.1% from a year earlier. That estimate slipped 0.1% over the past 30 days. Estimates for the current and next fiscal years are $13.22 and $14.98 per share, respectively, and have not changed over the past month.

Zacks projects current-quarter revenue of $12.07 billion, a 12.6% year-over-year increase. Its estimates for the current and next fiscal years are $45.83 billion and $50.62 billion, representing projected growth of 14.6% and 10.4%.

In its latest reported quarter, Visa posted $11.63 billion in revenue and earnings of $3.32 per share, compared with $2.98 a year earlier. The results exceeded Zacks consensus estimates, and the company beat consensus revenue and earnings estimates in each of the past four quarters.

Zacks’ Value Style Score gave Visa a D, which the publisher said indicates the shares trade at a premium to peers.
