Hilton says AI tools are making applications easier to send, but the surge is also intensifying competition for entry-level roles.
Hilton has received nearly 15,000 applications for its next early-career cohort, as AI tools make it easier for candidates to apply. The hotel group’s chief human resources officer says that convenience is also swelling the competition.
The total is for the 2027 cohort, Hilton told Fortune. Separately, about 12,000 people applied for 72 internship openings this year, while the 2026 early-career program drew 5,000 applications for 20 places.
Hilton’s LAUNCH program is a two-year corporate rotation based in McLean, Virginia. Participants spend time in corporate roles, then complete a three-month placement at a hotel to learn hotel operations and the guest experience.
Laura Fuentes, Hilton’s chief human resources officer, told Fortune that AI helps applicants tailor resumes and cover letters and apply to more jobs. But the growing volume can overwhelm recruiters, she said, making it difficult to manage the pipeline.
That creates a mismatch: technology cuts the effort required to submit an application, but does not create more openings. Hilton has described its internships and full-time early-career roles as limited and highly competitive.
The company’s careers site lists corporate internships across fields including finance, data analytics, marketing and technology. Its LAUNCH program combines corporate experience with hotel operations training, positioning the cohort as a route into different parts of the business.
Fuentes advised candidates to focus on employers and roles that genuinely interest them, rather than sending applications indiscriminately. Hilton’s next cohort will offer a measure of whether applicant demand keeps rising as AI further lowers the barrier to applying.
